Snow Angel

We recently had an early snow. Ava, who was absolutely terrified of the snow last year, begged us all day long to let her go outside so that she could play in the snow. Krista got Ava all bundled up for the blustery weather and our little snow princess ventured out into our backyard.

Upon reaching the back fence, Ava turned around to discover the trail of footprints she had left behind.

She then scampered back to the patio to point out the footprints she had made.

She continued making more and more footprints in the snow...

...pausing every so often to inform us that the snow was making a "crunch, crunch, crunch" sound as she stepped through it.

She finally grew bored of this game and stopped to admire her fancy footwork.

Then out of the clear blue sky she announced that she wanted to make a snow angel (we didn't even think she knew what one was). Upon laying down in the snow, however, she got a little nervous.

Now every time it snows (whether it sticks or not) Ava pleads to go outside.

Baby Photos: The First Month

For those that have been asking for more pictures of the baby, you are in luck. Here's little Christian at just ten days old.

Following in his sister's footsteps, Christian began studying the craft of sorcery when only three weeks old. Here he is trying to conjure up a bottle.

After several fruitless attempts, he collapsed from exhaustion.

At three and a half weeks he started smiling a lot.

Here he is at one month of age and becoming increasingly aware of his surroundings.

Stay tuned for more pictures of the baby.

The Two-Year-Old Stole the Show

As you've probably gathered from our last two posts, we had our family portraits taken last month, resulting in a lot of great pictures. However, the real star of the photo shoot ended up being Ava. This came as a complete surprise to us as she spent the first third of the shoot being too preoccupied about getting her boots muddy/having the tall grass rub against her legs that it was near impossible to get her to pose for the camera, the middle third of the shoot acting completely silly, and the final third of the shoot being completely uncooperative as her fingers, toes, and nose were cold as icicles. Nonetheless, the shoot yielded so many adorable pictures of Ava that we found ourselves having a hard time picking just a few favorites and finally resorted to adding another post just of her.

Autumn 2009 Family Portait - Part 2

Here are a few more of our favorite photographs from the family pictures we recently had taken...

Once again, many thanks to Kate Jeppson at Jeppson Studios for taking such wonderful pictures of our family.

Autumn 2009 Family Portait - Part 1

Last month we had our family portait taken by Jeppson Studios. Christian was pretty cranky, Ava was super silly, and it was extremely cold (the kids had bright red noses by the time we were done). However, we think the pictures turned out wonderfully and are so happy to have captured this time in our family's history.
