The Many Faces of Ava

So about a week ago I set out to see how many different facial expressions I could capture on Ava's face. One hundred plus pictures later, I came to the determination that she has a lot of faces. Below are 49 of them. Despite my best efforts, however, I wasn't able to snap a picture of her pouty face, which is among my favorites.

Pioneer Baby

We dressed Ava up in her baby blessing dress tonight to make sure it fit okay. She of course looked like a little angel in it. We're not going to post those pictures just yet (that would be like the groom seeing his bride in her dress before the wedding).
After taking her out of the dress, we put her back in her pajamas and took some pictures of her in the bonnet which came with the dress. Since she'll be wearing a bow with her dress instead of the matching bonnet, we thought our readers might enjoy seeing her in the bonnet.

Here she is in between outfits.

The Parents

So we've received a lot of requests for pictures of the whole family. And we listened to our faithful viewers. The above picture was taken on New Year's Eve at Krista's parents' house. Below is a picture of Ava and Krista taken at home.

Ava used to like to sleep on her daddy's chest, but lately she's been unwilling to. She seems to get confused between eating and laying on dad's chest.

Anchors Away

Ava is starting to fit into a few more of her outfits, and starting to grow out of a few others. Krista recently dressed her up in this little sailor outfit, which of course prompted an impromptu photo shoot when Larry got home from work.

We especially liked her face on this one.

Her little ear it getting bent on this one.

She's trying to ward off the flashbulbs.

Curly Locks

As promised in yesterday's post, here are some more post-bath pictures of Ava.

We've noticed that when we wash Ava's hair it gets a little curly. If you comb it out while it's still wet it will go straight; otherwise the curls stay in.

After getting dried off, we dressed her in her pajamas (no she doesn't wear the headband to bed, but it makes for a cute picture).

We have found that she likes to relax with her arms raised to either side of her head. In fact, she typically falls asleep in this position.

Bath Time

We gave Ava her first "real" bath the other day. She's had several sponge baths already, but now that her umbilical cord has fallen completely off (leaving her with a belly button that appears to be an outty), we were able to give her a bath in her tub.

We thought she might cry when placing her in the water, but she quite enjoyed sitting in her bathtub. I guess we shouldn't have been surprised considering that she did live in liquid for nine months.

Even when we washed her hair she stayed calm and collected. Getting a little water in her eyes didn't even phase her; although she did flail her arms a bit. So it's probably just a matter of time before she discovers how to make splasheswe'll enjoy staying dry until then.

After the bath we wrapped her up in her towel and snapped a few more pictures. We'll post some more pictures tomorrow.

Annissa Jane

At just eight days old, Ava gained her first girl cousin. Annissa Jane Olsen was born December 20 to proud parents Elissa and Jordan (Krista's younger brother). We think this is really great because Ava and Annissa will have each other as playmates growing up. This should make Olsen family get-togethers that much more fun for the two of them.
Krista's mom (who styles herself "Granny O") got the baby cousins matching outfits for the holidays. The girls modeled their new threads for us on New Year's Eve.

Ava also has two older cousins, also on the Olsen side of the family. Lucas and Seth, children to Liz and Preston (Krista's older brother), came to visit Krista for her birthday and posed for the camera while Ava fussed.
As for the Furr side of the family, Ava remains cousin-less for the time-being. Ryan, Kelly?

Ava Noel

Since all of our friends now have blogs, Krista and I decided that we would jump on the blog bandwagon. Plus, having a blog is an easy way to share photos, thus satisfying the barrage of requests we receive for new pictures of the baby.

For those lacking the details, Ava Noel Furr was born at 3:34 a.m. on December 12, 2006; weighing 7 lbs. 8 oz. and measuring 18.5" long (although at her two week check-up she measured 21.25" long; thus bringing into question the accuracy of the initial measurement). Both mother and baby are healthy and happy, and dad is happiest of all.

We'll try to keep this blog up-to-date with news, but for the time-being we have a feeling most of the news will be about Ava. As you can see from these pictures, Ava is rarely without a bow in her hair when there's a camera around (it's an Olsen tradition).

Wonder what she's dreaming about. A better hair style perhaps?
